Why Picking the wrong Recruitment Partner could lead you off course

Working with a recruitment partner can either get you to where you need to go infinitely quicker or be a hindrance to your overall recruitment journey if you pick the wrong partner.

Every recruiter will tell you they want to work in partnership with clients but have very few compelling reasons to show why it is necessary, I am going to attempt to do that now using an aviation analogy.

Pilots and air traffic controllers have to work in partnership to make sure the plane arrives on time and that the passengers are safe and well on arrival. Ultimately as a client or candidate you are flying the plane, but it is my job as a recruiter to guide you and I want to make sure I bring you in for a safe landing.

The 1 in 60 rule is a tool used by both pilots and air traffic control to make sure they are on course and also to prevent collisions, for every 1° off course the plane is bearing it will be 1 mile away from its intended destination after traveling just 60 miles, when you thing that the plane travels 550-600 MPH a very small degree of error is the difference in reaching your destination or having terrible consequences.

The recruitment market moves quickly and if we do not work in partnership there is not other outcome than going off course, I want to be able to regularly make small degrees of adjustment with clients to stay on course and understand your needs that may be taking you in a different direction than originally anticipated.

As the Pilot of this recruitment journey, you are in control but it is my job to make sure you are aware of external factors so you can steer this process in the right direction. I will keep you informed of adverse headwinds in the market or poor conditions so we get you to where you need to go. I have a view outside of the cockpit and it's my job to guide and advise you helping make the little adjustments that help the passengers of this process reach their destination safely.
